The khol is a drum with a clay body, with drumheads at both ends, one far smaller than the other. The drumheads are made of cow skin, and are three-layered and treated with a circle of rice paste, glue, and iron known as sihai.
The mridangam is a double sided drum. One side is very small and generates high pitched sounds and the other, wider, for low pitched sounds. Medium size.
This veena is known as the ekandam veena. It is made from one peice of wood with no joints. Nice decoration with two bridges.
